INTERNET MARKETING, AND PRESTO?

Internet marketing is not as easy as it is cracked up to be!
Internet marketers are taking the world by storm, don’t you agree? This wave of business owners who are becoming wealthy or even millionaires are somewhat mythically revered by other mere traditional business owners. Well thankfully many of these internet legends are happy to share their know-how with the rest of us – after all a lot of them make their money by sharing this know-how! Honestly that is not cynicism just the truth.
The thing is for some reason many hopeful internet marketers believe that building their internet empires takes a short sharp burst of effort. They often somehow believe that with a little bit of work they can start to get a piece of this lucrative way of working. The thing is, it is not as easy as it looks.
Internet Marketers
still spend a fair amount of money on outside resources for support, so although the traditional overheads are not as high, the outgoings still need to be budgeted for and monitored very closely.
Internet Marketers still work incredibly long hours. They need to find time to:
Be creative and conceptualize the classes and/or products
Actually create the classes and/or products
Come up with marketing activities for their new and existing products and/or classes
Conduct classes or share their expertise to promote products
Carry out general marketing activities, i.e. blogging, facebook, twitter etc
Well lucky for us – VAs that is - these Internet Marketers typically work virtually. So by following this model the wanna be business owners come our way looking for support, or that is what I have experienced. But for some reason these aspiring internet marketers think that all they have to do is get their product or class up; get their shopping cart configured; draft and have their splash page created and hey presto the sales will start pouring in.
But of course something fundamental has been missed, and that is building a relationship with the prospective purchasers.
To be honest the impression that I get is that they take a chance. They create a product, get it out there and then wish on a lucky star that the internet marketing wave will pick them up. I personally think never works.
So when I speak to a prospective client with internet marketing aspirations I want to know that they have planned out our working relationship responsibly. I do not want to be part of this short sharp effort to jump on the marketing internet bandwagon, but more realistically a considered plan that will reap considerable rewards over time. I think it may fall down to us as VAs to let our clients and prospects know, that internet marketing is not as easy as it is cracked up to be!
